The concept of this photo was a woman creating a stature of her perfect man. Or an image of a perfect man. I mean the idea that people seek and create their ideal person. And when they find that person, they’re usually not grateful. Instead, they’re trying to fit that human into a lifestyle they created in their imagination long time ago.
I mean many years ago. On the other hand, there is a positive interpretation on this. If a woman has a certain picture of what she wants, what type of man she’s interested in and what attracts her in men, then she knows where to look. And that’s great. It gives her a clear view and helps to succeed in finding her betrothed. And when she finds the one, that idea will secure their happiness. Especially if a man’s ideal is realized in her as well. Alive and one-of-a-kind.
Posting comments on what you’re seeing now is deeply appreciated. In my opinion it’s quite a large topic. See the backstage (how we made it) inside the article.
I also had a “picture” of how the shot should’ve been framed. Here’s a side view of me attaching my imaginary shooting angle to the real scene on the beach.
That’s what I saw through the camera lens.
We’re testing with naked torso.
I made a quick draft for better understating of the details.
We mixed red paint with seawater using a piece of palm tree. I never tried mixing acrylic paint with salt water before. It was a special paint for body art by the way.
The paint formed a nice texture and rolled on perfectly. The color didn’t bleach, as it often happens when the paint dries up. Great result!
That’s the one thing when someone tells you how it’s going to be. But when somebody actually starts to paint on you that’s a totally different story. Nastya is painting on Nicolay.
I mixed the second can a bit more thick to create a flowing paint effect
A bit more color on the face. We painted the eyes and teeth as well
That’s it! The session is over. It took us about one hour in total. Now it’s time to wash up, upload photos from my camera and start editing.
Final photo (RAW format)
A mould/reflexion (backstage). I spent about 8 hours to edit this shot in Photoshop.
Thanks to Nicolay and Nastya for being such a good models.
Cheers to Nicolay, Vlad and Lesha for helping me with the shooting. We did a great job.
That’ll be all for today.
